Support for Jessica

Chicago Tribune Editorial Board
"Biggs is our choice (...) in no small part due to her extensive experience within CPS and her thoughtful approach to improving public education in Chicago. She doesn’t line up with all of the policy stances of this board, but she is clear-eyed about the district’s financial challenges and she describes Martinez’s resistance to the mayor’s reckless financial approach this way: 'Pedro Martinez is doing current CPS students, future CPS students and Chicago’s taxpayers a profound service in standing up to the mayor.'
We endorse Jessica Biggs."

Alderperson Pat Dowell, 3rd Ward
“Throughout her tenure as principal at Burke Elementary School, Jessica showed consistent leadership to the Bronzeville community. Not only did she move the school off probation, but she engaged students, staff, parents and the entire community in important and meaningful ways. I know she will bring the same collaborative and tenacious spirit grounded in what’s best for kids and community to our newly-elected school board. For these reasons, I am proud to endorse Jessica in District 6.”

"Now more than ever, our schools need and deserve leadership that can find responsible, effective solutions to the challenges they face. I've been impressed with Jessica's thoughtfulness, her integrity, and her years of experience and service to CPS families and kids. I look forward to working with Jessica to better serve the families and students of the 42nd Ward."

Alderperson Lamont Robinson, 4th Ward
“I had the honor of working with Jessica when I was newly-elected as the 5th District State Representative. Her leadership in the community deeply impressed me. I will never forget meeting Jessica and her students on Earth Day at a vacant lot she helped transform into a community garden. She was a collaborative and righteous leader then, and she continues to be a transformative and communty-driven leader today. I am eager to work with her as a member of our elected school board and happily endorse her in District 6.”

"I am endorsing Jessica Biggs for District 6 [to] elect independently minded candidates who will put our students and families ahead of politics...Jessica has the right experience, a real stake in the success of the system and is truly an independent candidate in this race."

CPS Parents for Buses
"We, volunteer parents of kids in Chicago Public Schools, beholden to no special interest, endorse former special education teacher and principal, and current mom to a CPS student, Jessica Biggs for school board in the 6th district. The 6th district is the oddest map. It extends from just Northwest of Wicker Park to South of Washington Park; Bronzeville is the largest area for voters in this district. And Jessica Biggs has the experience and energy to listen to many different constituents.
Our endorsed candidate in the 6th district Jessica Biggs supports our solutions, and her focus is on bus driver recruitment. 'You can’t bus kids if there is no one to drive the bus' she wrote, and she has outlined details of funding CDL training and expediting hiring.
Jessica Biggs improved a school as principal, and her learned listening skills as a special education teacher will serve us well.Biggs: 'Every Board member has a responsibility to listen to the feedback and incorporate it into their decisions.'
Go vote for her."
